Nation’s premier saltwater fishing circuit
brings together top anglers for chance at $75,000
|
|
|
(Sep. 19, 2007 -
Little Rock, AR)... The world’s best saltwater fishing teams
are gearing up for the biggest event of the year. The Oh Boy!
Oberto Redfish Cup is joining forces with the Pensacola Seafood
Festival Sept. 21-23 for its fifth annual championship, and this
year features the biggest potential payout in the history of the
series.
The Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup Championship brings together
the top 15 teams from both the East and West OPEN divisions for a
no-entry fee event that boasts a guaranteed first place prize of
$75,000 and more than $250,000 in potential prize money.
"This is a perfect marriage between the Cup Championship,
which is the biggest event in tournament redfishing, and the
Pensacola Seafood Festival, which is one of Florida’s biggest
family festivals"said David Healy, vice president of the Redfish
Nation. "We wanted our fifth season to have a huge championship
event, which is why the Festival is a perfect backdrop.
"With more than 80,000 festival goers, live coverage on
ESPNoutdoors.com and a one-hour special on ESPN2 in December,
we’re blowing the roof off of media exposure for our partners and
our anglers."
"This is the 30th annual Seafood Festival presented by the
Fiesta of Five Flags, and we wanted to make it bigger and better
than ever,"said Laura Hill, executive director of the Fiesta of
Five Flags. "By adding the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup
Championship to our lineup, we’re giving attendees the chance to
witness great fishing, while showcasing the beautiful Pensacola
Bay area to the world with valuable exposure on ESPN2."
This year the Pensacola Seafood Festival will offer attendees
a wide assortment of activities, including live music at the
Alltel Entertainment stage, one of the Southeast’s largest arts
and crafts shows, the finest and freshest seafood dishes on the
Gulf Coast and tons of family fun. Admission is free.
The Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup is in its fifth year as the
most visible and lucrative redfishing tournament circuit in the
world. It has been broadcast to over 18 million viewers on ESPN2
and this year features its largest potential payout at more than
$2 million over the course of 10 events.
