is the weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department for Sept. 19. (Report also available on Web at
www.txfishing.com.)
CENTRAL
BASTROP: Water clear. Black bass are fair on chartreuse and
chartreuse/white Rat-L-Traps over grass. Crappie are good on minnows
and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp,
nightcrawlers, and punchbait. Yellow catfish are slow.
BELTON: Water fairly clear; 89 degrees; 20.34' high. Black
bass are slow. Hybrid striper are good on white Riversides and Sassy
Shads at night under lights. White bass are good on white Riversides
and Sassy Shads at night under lights. Crappie are slow. Channel and
blue catfish are good on hot dogs. Yellow catfish to 14 pounds are good
on trotlines baited with live perch.
BROWNWOOD: Water clear; 80 degrees; 0.42' low. Black bass to
4 pounds are excellent on Bass Hogg inline buzz frogs and 3/16oz. Pig
Sticker Shaky Heads with Grande Bass 4" redbug and
watermelon/chartreuse tailed Trickster worms along the docks, rocks,
and near brush piles in 25 feet early and 815 feet later, and on
topwater frogs, torpedoes, and Pop-Rs on main lake flats near grass.
Hybrid striper to 5.5 pounds are good trolling hellbenders near the
Woodsman of the World camp. White bass are good on I'll Fishies off
lighted docks at night. Crappie are good on Li'l Fishies and minnows
over brush piles in Little Rocky Cove in 1018 feet, and under lighted
docks at night. Channel catfish to 5 pounds are good on cut bait and
nightcrawlers over baited holes in 1220 feet. Yellow catfish to 5
pounds are good on trotlines baited with perch and worms in 612 feet.
BUCHANAN: Water clear; 83 degrees; 2.60' low. Black bass are
fair on root beer JDC Drop Shot Worms on drop shot rigs, silver flake
Whacky Sticks on jigheads, and white/chartreuse/purple back crankbaits
in 8-20 feet early (and all day under cloud cover). Striped bass are
fair casting and jigging Spoiler Shads and drifting or free lining live
bait from Striper Island to the dam in 28-42 feet at daylight. White
bass are fair on Tiny Traps and 2" plastic swim baits along the river
channel and deep creeks in 25 feet. Crappie are fair on pink/white and
chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows in clear water. Channel
catfish are fair to good on live bait upriver. Yellow and blue catfish
are good on live bait upriver.
CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 84 degrees; 0.03' low. Black bass
are fair on Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs, watermelon
red Whacky Sticks on wacky rigs, and Texas rigged 6" pumpkin Scoundrel
worms and white spinnerbaits along main lake bluffs in 12-20 feet and
in standing timber in 4-8 feet. Striped bass are fair to good but small
jigging blade baits and trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits over and around
humps in the lower end of the lake. White bass are slow. Smallmouth
bass to 4 pounds are fair on smoke JDC grubs and 3/16oz. pumpkin Curb's
jigs with matching JDC drop shot worms in 12-28 feet early. Crappie are
fair on minnows and crappie jigs upriver. Channel catfish are slow.
Yellow and blue catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.
COLEMAN: Water clear; 83 degrees. Black bass are good on
watermelon red spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. Hybrid
striper are fair on live minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows and
white/red tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and
minnows. Yellow catfish are slow.
COLORADO RIVER: (At Colorado Bend State Park) Water stained.
Black bass are slow. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow.
Crappie are slow. Catfish are fair on perch.
FAYETTE: Water clear; 95 degrees. Black bass are slow to fair
on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Red ear perch are good on worms in 12
feet. Channel and blue catfish are slow.
GRANBURY: Water lightly stained; 0.39' low. Black bass are
fair on pumpkinseed spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped
bass are fair on live bait. White bass are good on perch colored
spinnerbaits and minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube
jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait, shrimp, and live bait.
GRANGER: Water clear; 84 degrees; 11.13' high. Black bass are
fair on live minnows. White bass are excellent on slab spoons off main
lake points. Crappie are excellent on minnows and tube jigs in 1020
feet. Channel and blue catfish are very good on nightcrawlers and shad.
Yellow catfish are slow.
LBJ: Water stained; 83 degrees; 0.06' low. Black bass are
fair on JDC Skip-N-Pops and 1/8oz. Curb's buzzbaits tight to seawalls
in 4-8 feet at daylight and just before dark, and on wacky rigged green
pumpkin Whacky Sticks and 4" green pumpkin tubes under boat docks.
Striped bass to 24" are good on Creme Lures 2" Spoiler Shads and Li'l
Fishies at night. White bass are fair to good on Li'l Fishies at night.
Crappie are fair to good on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows over
brush piles in clear water. Channel catfish are good on minnows and dip
bait. Yellow and blue catfish are fair to good on trotlines.
NAVARRO MILLS: Water murky; 86 degrees; 0.08' low. Black bass
are good but small on minnows. White bass are good on Silver Dollar
lures and Little Georges. Crappie are good on minnows and tube jigs
near Liberty Hill Park. Channel and blue catfish are good on frozen
shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.
PROCTOR: Water murky; 82 degrees; 1.55' high. Black bass are
slow. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on
small minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on minnows. Yellow
catfish are fair on shrimp and shad.
SOMERVILLE: Water murky; 0.09' low. Black bass are slow.
Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel
and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.
STILLHOUSE: Water murky; 83 degrees; 11.88' high. Black bass
are fair on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. White bass are slow. Crappie
are good on minnows at night. Channel and blue catfish are good on
chicken livers, nightcrawlers, and minnows. Yellow catfish are slow.
TRAVIS: Water clear; 84 degrees; 0.79' high. Black bass to 5
pounds are good on buzzbaits, crawfish crankbaits, and red shad soft
plastic worms in 418 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow.
Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs in 1825 feet. Channel
and blue catfish to 7 pounds are good on nightcrawlers and bloodbait in
2240 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.
WALTER E. LONG: Water clear; 86 degrees (92 at discharge).
Black bass are good trolling Storm Thundersticks. Hybrid striper are
slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and white and
chartreuse tube jigs near the dam. Channel and blue catfish are slow.
Yellow catfish are slow.
WHITNEY: Water murky; 0.53' high. Black bass are good on
pumpkinseed/white Rat-L-Traps, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits on main
lake points and flats. Striped bass are good on minnows and green
striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows and green spinnerbaits.
Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are good on shrimp, and stinkbait,
and live bait.
NORTHEAST
ATHENS: Water fairly clear, 78-84 degrees; 0.09 high. Black
bass are fair on soft plastics in 2-10 feet around heavy brush. Crappie
are fair at night on live minnows off docks with brush. Catfish are
good on punchbait and fresh cut bait in 15 feet. Bream are good on bits
of nightcrawlers in 4-6 feet.
BOB SANDLIN: Water clear; 78-84 degrees; 0.06' low. Black
bass are good early on and topwaters, later switching to drop shot rigs
and finesse jigs. White bass are fair on Rooster Tails and minnows.
Catfish are fair on stinkbait and chartreuse (use Worm-Glo)
nightcrawlers.
BRIDGEPORT: Water lightly stained; 79-84 degrees; 0.35' low.
Black bass are fair on topwaters early, midday switching to crankbaits
and Carolina rigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs over brush
piles. Hybrid striper are fair on Sassy Shad and live shad. Catfish are
fair on chartreuse (use Worm-Glo) nightcrawlers. Bream are fair on
crickets and red wigglers.
CADDO: Water stained; 78-86 degrees; 1.24' high. Black bass
are good on black/red or watermelon Senkos on the grass and along the
edges of lily pads and on soft plastic frogs over grass and lily pads.
Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around cypress trees and in the
river bends. Bream are fair around cypress trees on crickets and worms.
Catfish are good on limblines with cut bait.
CEDAR CREEK: Water lightly stained; 78-83 degrees; 0.14' low.
Black bass are fair to good on Carolina rigs, jigs and drop shot rigs,
with early action on topwaters. White bass are fair early on
Humdingers, midday switching to Hellbender with Pet Spoon rigs. Hybrid
striper are fair burning large slabs. Crappie are slow on small minnows
over brush piles. Catfish are good drifting cut shad and on chartreuse
nightcrawlers (use Worm-Glo).
COOPER: Water lightly stained; 78-82 degrees; 0.16' high. No
report fishing reports available.
FAIRFIELD: Water fairly clear; 84-92 degrees. Black bass are
good on Senkos, weightless flukes and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair on
shiners. Redfish are slow on live bait drifter under a balloon. Catfish
are fair to good on cut and prepared bait.
FORK: Water fairly clear; 78-83 degrees; 0.2' high. Black
bass are fair on buzzbaits and Yellow Magics early, midday switching to
Carolina rigs and 3/4oz. jigs with trailers. Crappie are fair to good
on live minnows and jigs around structure. Catfish are good on cut shad
and chartreuse (use Worm-Glo) nightcrawlers.
GRAPEVINE: Water fairly clear; 78-83 degrees; 6.78' high.
Black bass are fair on Texas rigs and crankbaits near rocky points.
Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs over planted brush piles. White
bass are good to excellent all over the lake. Catfish are fair on
prepared baits and chartreuse (use Worm-Glo) nightcrawlers.
JOE POOL: Water off color; 78-82 degrees; 1.49' high. Black
bass are fair on topwaters early, later switching to jigs and Carolina
rigs. Crappie are slow to fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair
to good on RJR Slabs over mid-lake humps and trolling Hellbender/Pet
Spoon rigs. Catfish are fair on cut and prepared baits.
LAKE O' THE PINES: Water lightly stained; 78-83 degrees;
1.24' high. Black bass are fair on topwaters early, midday switching to
Texas rigs and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs over
brush piles. Catfish are fair to good on chartreuse (use Worm-Glo)
nightcrawlers and Danny Kings Punch Bait.
LAVON: Water lightly stained; 78-82 degrees; 1.08' low. Black
bass are fair on spinnerbaits and topwaters in the shallows. Crappie
are fair on minnows and jigs around structure. Catfish are fair on cut
shad and prepared baits.
LEWISVILLE: Water off color; 77-83 degrees; 2.92' high. Black
bass are fair to good on spinnerbaits, Texas rigs and topwaters.
Crappie are good on minnows and jigs over brush piles. White bass are
good on Humdingers and slabs. Hybrid striper are fair to good on slabs
and Sassy Shad. Catfish are good on chartreuse (use Worm-Glo)
nightcrawlers.
MARTIN CREEK: No report available.
MONTICELLO: No report available.
PALESTINE: Water lightly stained; 78-82 degrees; 0.29' low.
Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, topwaters and soft plastics fished
shallow. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs in the marinas and over
brush piles. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are fair to good on
Humdingers. Catfish are fair to good on chartreuse nightcrawlers (use
Worm-Glo) and cheese bait.
RAY HUBBARD: Water lightly stained; 78-82 degrees; 0.04' low.
Black bass are fair early on spinnerbaits and Texas rigs around riprap
and lily pads. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are
good to excellent on topwaters and slabs. Hybrid striper are good on
2oz. slabs. Catfish are good on prepared bait.
RAY ROBERTS: Water clear; 79-83 degrees; 2.01' high. Black
bass are excellent on buzzbaits, 1/4oz. Super Spots and Booyah (triple
blade) spinnerbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and Road Runners over
brush piles. White bass are good (sporadic schooling) on C.C. Jigging
Spoons. Catfish are fair to good on chartreuse (use Worm-Glo)
nightcrawlers.
RICHLAND CHAMBERS: Water off color; 78-83 degrees; 0.07' low.
Black bass are fair to good on topwaters and spinnerbaits early, midday
switching to Carolina rigs and drop shot rigs. White bass are fair on
slabs and topwaters. Hybrid striper are fair on large slabs and
Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are slow. Catfish are good on prepared baits and
cut shad.
TAWAKONI: Water lightly stained; 78-83 degrees; 0.65' low.
Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, topwaters and Texas rigs. Crappie
are fair on live minnows in 15 feet. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers
and prepared bait. White bass are good on Humdingers and topwaters.
Striped bass and hybrid striper are fair on live shad.
TEXOMA: Water fairly clear; 77-83 degrees; 1.89' high. Black
bass are fair on spinnerbaits and buzzbaits early, midday switching to
crankbaits, Texas rigs and drop shot rigs. Crappie are fair on minnows
and jigs around bridges, in the marinas and over brush piles. Striper
bass are fair early on topwaters and Sassy Shad (still around the
shoreline), later switching to slabs and sticking with Sassy Shad.
Catfish are fair on cut shad and nightcrawlers.
WEATHERFORD: Water stained; 78-82 degrees; 0.88' low. Black
bass are slow on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and Texas rigs. Crappie are
good on minnows and jigs in the crappie house and over brush piles.
Channel catfish are fair on worms, liver and dough bait. White bass are
slow. Bream are good on worms.
WRIGHT PATMAN: Water off color; 78-83 degrees; 4.82' high.
Black bass are fair on buzzbaits and Yellow Magics early, midday
switching to Carolina rigs and 3/4oz. jigs with trailers. Crappie are
fair to good on live minnows and jigs around structure. Catfish are
good on cut shad and chartreuse (use Worm-Glo) nightcrawlers.
SOUTH
AMISTAD: Water fairly clear; 83 degrees; 8.40' low. Black
bass are good on topwaters and Oldham's jigs in grass. Striped bass are
slow. White bass are slow. Catfish are fair on cheesebait,
nightcrawlers, and shrimp over baited holes. Yellow catfish are slow.
BRAUNIG: Water stained; 87 degrees. Black bass are slow on
crankbaits and dark soft plastic worms. Striped bass are fair on liver
and shad near the pier and at Dead Tree Point, and on marble
spinnerbaits near the jetty and dam. Redfish are fair on perch, shad,
and silver spoons, and down rigging spoons near the jetty and dam.
Channel catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, cut bait, and
cheesebait near the dam and the discharge. Blue catfish are good on cut
bait.
CALAVERAS: Water stained; 87 degrees. Black bass are fair on
dark soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits around reed beds,
near the dam, and in Granny's Cove. Striped bass are slow. Redfish are
good down rigging spoons with green grubs between the crappie wall and
the dam in 1520 feet, and on perch and tilapia along the shoreline.
Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on liver,
shrimp, cheesebait, and shad near the railroad trestle, 181 Cove, and
the discharge. Yellow catfish are slow.
CHOKE CANYON: Water lightly stained; 90 degrees; 0.03' high.
Black bass are good on large soft plastic worms and lizards in 1020
feet. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Drum are good on live
worms. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on punchbait in 510 feet.
Yellow catfish are fair on live perch and goldfish.
COLETO CREEK: Water murky; 90 degrees (99 degrees at
discharge); 0.06' low. Black bass are fair on soft plastics in 1015
feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on
minnows in 1218 feet. Channel and blue catfish are fair on trotlines
baited with liver and live perch in 1015 feet. Yellow catfish are fair
on trotlines baited with live perch in 1520 feet.
FALCON: Water stained; 87 degrees. Black bass are fair to
good on brown/orange jigs with a trailer, Texas rigs and spinnerbaits.
Striped bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are
very good on cut bait and chartreuse (use Worm-Glo) nightcrawlers.
Yellow catfish are slow. Mexican fishing licenses and boat permits are
required to fish in Mexican waters. Everyone in the boat must have a
Mexican Fishing License whether fishing or not.
SOUTHEAST
CONROE: Water clear; 0.45' low. Black bass are very good on
pumpkinseed and tequila sunrise soft plastics, Senkos, crankbaits, and
Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are fair on live minnows and chartreuse
striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are fair on
stinkbait, live bait, and nightcrawlers.
GIBBONS CREEK: Water clear. Black bass are good on
pumpkinseed and tequila sunrise Carolina rigged soft plastics,
spinnerbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are good on minnows and
chartreuse tube jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait, shrimp, and
nightcrawlers.
HOUSTON COUNTY: Water clear; 82 degrees; 0.45' high. Black
bass are good on cotton candy Brush Hogs, electric blue soft plastic
lizards, and 8" black soft plastic worms in 414 feet early and late.
Crappie are fair on live minnows over brush piles in 12 feet. Bream are
good on live worms over grass beds and off piers. Channel and blue
catfish are good on trotlines baited with perch.
LIVINGSTON: Water fairly clear; 82 degrees; 0.59' high. Black
bass are fair on soft plastics and crankbaits. Striped bass are slow.
White bass are good on pet spoons, hellbenders, and slabs. Crappie are
fair on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shad. Yellow catfish are
slow.
SAM RAYBURN: Water stained; 86 degrees; 2.50' low. Black bass
are good on watermelon red and tequila sunrise soft plastic worms.
White bass are good on minnows and white/gold spoons. Crappie are good
on live minnows. Bream are good on nightcrawlers. Catfish are good on
live bait, shrimp, and punchbait.
STEINHAGEN: 1.36' high. No report available.
TOLEDO BEND: Water clear; 87 degrees; 2.85' low. Black bass
to 4 pounds are good on watermelon/blue flake Finesse and redbug soft
plastic worms, and on peanut butter and jelly chompers. Striped bass
are slow. White bass are fair on minnows and silver spoons. Crappie are
fair on live minnows. Bream are good on crickets and nightcrawlers.
Channel and blue catfish are good but small on punchbait. Yellow
catfish are slow.
PANHANDLE
GREENBELT: Water lightly stained; 79 degrees; 22.1' low.
Black bass are fair on white spinnerbaits and Texas-rigged June
bug/chartreuse soft plastics along grass lines and stickups, and
MoJo-rigged pumpkin/chartreuse soft plastics along sandy bottom near
riprap and points. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. White bass are
good on live bait. Smallmouth bass are fair on live baits and baby shad
crankbaits. Walleye are fair on live bait and shad-colored crankbaits.
Catfish are good on worms.
MACKENZIE: Water lightly stained; 80 degrees; 1.72' low.
Black bass are fair on red crankbaits and small red flake tubes along
stickups, and live bait. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. White
bass and striped bass are fair on live bait. Smallmouth bass are slow.
Walleye are fair on crankbaits. Catfish are fair on prepared baits.
MEREDITH: Water lightly stained; 80 degrees; 35' low. Black
bass are fair on shad-colored crankbaits along grass lines, and
black/blue jigs and smoke curly tail grubs around rocky points. Crappie
are good on jigs and minnows. White bass are fair on live bait and
inline spinnerbaits along riprap. Smallmouth bass are fair on live
bait. Walleye are fair on shad colored/ gold glitter soft plastic grubs
around rocks. Channel catfish are fair on live baits. Note: Fritch
Fortress ramp has been extended and is now open. Harbor Bay ramp is
closed for extension.
PALO DURO: Water lightly stained; 79 degrees; 20' low. Black
bass are fair on live baits. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows.
Smallmouth bass are fair on live baits. Walleye are fair on live baits.
Channel catfish are fair on minnows and prepared baits.
WEST
ALAN HENRY: Water lightly stained; 81 degrees. Black bass are
fair on shad-colored spinnerbaits, black neon tubes and orange crawfish
jigs with some topwater action early in day. Crappie are fair on
minnows and jigs.
ARROWHEAD: Water lightly stained; 80 degrees; 1.34' low.
Black bass are good early in day on white Fluke jerkbaits, topwater
lures and Texas-rigged soft plastic worms near shallow vegetation.
Crappie (most under 10 inches in length) are fair on minnows off the
derricks. White bass are fair trolling and on flats with some surface
action near dam and west of state park. Catfish are good on punchbait
or juglines baited with cut shad or carp.
COLORADO CITY: Water clear; 82 degrees; 3.35' low. Black bass
are slow. Crappie are slow. White bass are slow. Catfish are slow.
FT. PHANTOM HILL: Water clear; 81 degrees; 2.97' low. Black
bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are
fair on live bait and crankbaits. Catfish are fair.
HUBBARD CREEK: Water lightly stained; 80 degrees; .62' low.
Black bass are fair on white/blue spinnerbaits, red Rat-L-Traps, and
Texas-rigged watermelon/chartreuse soft plastics. Crappie are fair on
jigs and minnows. White bass and hybrid striper are fair on live baits.
Catfish are fair on cut shad and minnows.
NASWORTHY: Water lightly stained; 79 degrees. Black bass are
fair on shad-colored spinnerbaits and live baits. Crappie are fair on
minnows and jigs. Redfish are fair. White bass and striped bass are
fair on live baits. Catfish are fair on worms and prepared baits.
OAK CREEK: Water lightly stained; 81 degrees; 13.24' low.
Black bass are fair on live baits. Crappie are fair on minnows and
jigs. Catfish are good on cut shad and minnows. No boat ramps open. 4x4
vehicles can unload on dirt road near the dam.
O.H. IVIE: Water lightly stained; 82 degrees; 10.05' low.
Black bass are fair on live baits, shad-colored spinnerbaits and
shad-colored soft plastic jerkbaits along rocky points and brush.
Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on live baits
and shallow crankbaits along rocks. Smallmouth bass are fair on
jerkbaits. Channel catfish are good on live baits.
POSSUM KINGDOM: Water stained; 85 degrees; 1.5' low. Black
bass are poor with some small fish caught on crankbaits. White bass are
fair in backs of clear water cover on silver crankbaits. Catfish are
excellent on set lines or rod and reel baited with shad, works or cut
baits in the upper end of reservoir.
SPENCE: Water lightly stained; 79 degrees; 48.58' low. Black
bass are slow. Crappie are slow. White bass are slow. Striped bass and
hybrid striper are slow. Catfish are slow.
STAMFORD: Water lightly stained; 80 degrees; .14' low. Black
bass are slow on minnows and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on jigs and
minnows. White and striped bass are fair on live baits. Catfish are
fair on live baits.
SWEETWATER: Water lightly stained; 81 degrees; 30.2' low.
Black bass are slow. Crappie are slow. White bass are slow. Catfish are
slow.
WHITE RIVER: Water lightly stained; 81 degrees; 24.93' low.
Black bass are fair on shad-colored crankbaits along rocky points, and
June bug/chartreuse soft plastics along standing timber. Crappie are
good on jigs and minnows. Walleye are fair on live baits and chrome
jerkbaits. Channel catfish are good on minnows and shad.
WICHITA: Water turbid; 78 degrees; .05' low. Crappie are
slow. White bass and hybrid striped bass are fair on minnows or live
shad in front of spillway. Channel catfish are good drift fishing with
shrimp or punchbait.
COASTAL
NORTH SABINE: Trout are good in the Sabine and Neches Rivers
on live shad and pepper/chartreuse Bass Assassins and Norton Sand Eels.
Heavy rains from Hurricane Humberto could muddy the river and slow the
bite. Trout and redfish are good in the marsh with the high tides.
SOUTH SABINE: Bull redfish are good at the jetty on live bait
and cut mullet. Trout are good along the rocks on bone Top Dogs and
live shrimp. Croaker and sand trout are good on fresh dead shrimp.
BOLIVAR: Redfish are good in the surf and at Rollover Pass on
finger mullet. Croaker are good on fresh dead shrimp at Rollover Pass.
TRINITY BAY: Trout are fair to good around the wells on live
shrimp. Redfish, trout and sand trout are good at the Spillway on live
bait and red/white and pearl/chartreuse Hogies, Trout Killers, Sand
Eels and Bass Assassins.
EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good on Top Dogs and
Super Spooks for waders along the south shoreline. Trout are good over
shell on live shrimp and pumpkinseed/chartreuse and pepper/chartreuse
Bass Assassins, Trout Killers, Stanley Wedgetails and Sand Eels.
WEST GALVESTON BAY: Trout, redfish, sand trout and croaker
are good at the causeway and railroad bridge on live bait and fresh
dead. Bull redfish are good at the jetty on finger mullet and cut bait.
TEXAS CITY: Trout are good at Dollar Reef on live bait and
glow soft plastics. Redfish are good in Moses Lake on live shrimp under
a popping cork. Trout, redfish, sand trout and croaker are good at
night under the lights off the dike.
FREEPORT: Trout, Spanish mackerel and redfish are good on
live bait at the Surfside and Quintana jetty. Trout, redfish, croaker
and flounder are good at night from the piers near San Luis Pass on
live shrimp, mullet and glow plastics.
EAST MATAGORDA: Trout and redfish are good on the shorelines
on Top Dogs, She Dogs, Super Spooks and red shad Bass Assassins and
Norton Sand Eels. Redfish are fair to good in Lake Austin on live
shrimp and cracked crabs.
MATAGORDA: Redfish are good on topwaters and live shrimp in
Oyster Lake and the north shoreline of West Bay around Shell Island.
Trout and redfish are fair to good on morning glory Bass Assassins,
Trout Killers and Sand Eels around Green's and Cotton's.
PORT O'CONNOR: Trout and redfish are good on the reefs in San
Antonio Bay on live shrimp and gold and silver spoons. Bull redfish are
good on mullet and shrimp at Pass Cavallo. Trout and redfish are good
in the back lakes on live shrimp and topwaters.
ROCKPORT: Trout are fair to good on Long Reef on Bass
Assassins, Sand Eels and live shrimp. Redfish are good on the Estes
Flats on mullet and live shrimp. Redfish are good on topwaters in
Copano Bay and on the backside of Mud Island.
PORT ARANSAS: Trout are fair to good around Shamrock Cove on
Super Spooks, She Dogs and red shad Bass Assassins, Sand Eels and Trout
Killers. Redfish are good on the East Flats on live shrimp under a
popping cork and topwaters.
CORPUS CHRISTI: Bull redfish are good on the beach on finger
mullet and cut bait. Gafftop are good on fresh dead. Trout and redfish
are fair to good on the reefs in Nueces Bay on live shrimp under a
popping cork.
BAFFIN BAY: Trout and redfish are good on live bait and
strawberry touts along the Intracoastal. Trout are fair to good at
Penescal and Rocky Slough on piggy perch and live shrimp. Flounder are
fair to good on shrimp and jigs tipped with shrimp at the mouth of the
Land Cut.
PORT MANSFIELD: Trout, redfish and flounder are good on live
shrimp under a popping cork and shrimptails on the grass beds near the
channel. Trout and redfish are good in East Cut on mullet and piggy
perch. Redfish are beginning to school on the flats.
SOUTH PADRE: Trout are good on the edge of the channel on
live shrimp and DOA Shrimp under a popping cork. Tarpon are showing at
the jetty. Snook are good on shrimp in South Bay.
PORT ISABEL: Trout and redfish are good on live shrimp under
a popping cork and live shrimp on the bottom in the Intracoastal.
Flounder are good in the same area on live bait. Redfish are beginning
to school on the flats.
