Ian Paisley Jnr and the private developer
proposing to build a Giant's Causeway visitors' centre went lobster
fishing together, it emerged yesterday.
The
DUP junior minister confirmed he had been on the trip with Seymour
Sweeney, a member of the same party.
Mr Paisley Jnr also admitted he and his father had lobbied in 2005 for
a drift-net licence on behalf of a fisherman whose crew included Mr
Sweeney and two of his relatives.
Speaking to the BBC, he said he had become involved because he believed
in their case.
He said he had made no secret of having gone fishing with Mr Sweeney,
who he said was one of a number of fishermen he knew from the area.
l Mr Paisley Jnr will not face any disciplinary action in the Assembly
after he said he was repulsed by gay people.
Stormont's Standards and Privileges Committee voted against further
steps after divided opinion forced a head count earlier this month.
