Sabine Lake

Fishing guide Dickie Colburn is reporting mixed results and improving fishing conditions as water begins to clear on the lake; the river and bayous are still pretty dingy. Gulls have been pointing the way to feeding trout and reds lately. Colburn said drift fishing the midlake area near the barrel channel with live shad and finger mullet also has been effective.

Sam Rayburn
Sam Rayburn is about two feet low and clear. Water temp is in the low 80s.

Ann Thomasson-Wilson at Ann's Tackle said bass fishing has been good to eight pounds on Carolina rig lizards (watermelon and green pumpkin) dragged on main lake points. Topwaters, frogs, Senkos, Rat-L-Traps and Texas rig worms are producing some solid fish as well.

Crappie are fair on minnows soaked around deep brush in 18-25 feet of water.

Nacogdoches
Lake Nacogdoches is nearly a foot low and clear. Water temp is in the lowto mid 80s.

Bass fishing has been fair on light Texas rigs, weightless Senkos and wacky worms. Grass is the ticket. A few fish also holding around deeper boat docks. Topwater action has

been sporadic. Crappie are fair on minnows fished vertical over deep brush and along creek channel breaks.

Toledo Bend
T-Bend is nearing three feet below full pool and the water is fairly clear. Surface temp is in the mid-80s.

Bass fishing has been fair on redbug plastic worms worked on main lake structure in 15-17 feet of water. Charlie Shively at Bill's landing has seen several fish upwards five pounds.

Buzz baits and spinnerbaits are working best over shallow weed beds.
Some schooling activity on the main lake.

Crappie are fair on minnows fished along the edges of the main channel.
The fish are suspended about 15 down in 22 feet of water. Catfish are fair on trotline baited with live perch and cut bait.

Palestine
Lake Palestine is about normal level and clear.Water temp is low-to-mid 80s. Greg Porter at Porter's Sporting Goods said fishing traffic has been fairly light. Bass anglers are reporting good results on assorted baits (topwaters, frogs, drop shot and wacky worms). Porter said the best bite has been shallow, eight feet and less.

Catfish are fair on punch bait soaked in shallow water. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows fished shallow in 3-8 feet of water.

White bass are fair on spoons bounced on main lake points in 12-18 feet of water. Rat-L-Traps are working best when the fish are schooling.

Fork
Lake Fork is at normal level and clear. Water temperature is in the low 80s.

Bass fishing has been good to 10 pounds on shaky head worms, Carolina rigs and Texas rigs worked in 8- 16 feet of water. There also has been a good frog bite along outside grass edges.

Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs fished around bridge pilings and brush piles in 22-24 feet of water. Catfish are good to five pounds on punch bait and night crawlers.

Athens
Lake Athens is at normal level and clear.Water temp is in the mid-70s. Bass are good to five pounds on watermelon Texas rig plastics worked in relation to lily pads. Best bite has been shallow - 2-4 feet - according to Lake Athens Marina. Catfish are good to five pounds on night crawlers and punch bait fished from shore. Crappie are slow.

Richland Chambers
RC is about normal level and clear.Water temperature is in the upper 80s.

Bass fishing has been fair, according to Larry Winters at Midway Landing.Winters said anglers are using topwaters and Texas rig plastics to fool bass hanging tight to boat docks and shallow cover, mostly early and late. The Carolina rig has been the go-to bait at midday, mostly on main lake points. Crappie anglers are picking up partial limits of big slabs using live shiners in standing timber, 15-25 feet deep. Winters said the fish are suspended midway down in the water column.

Catfish are good on night crawlers and punch bait fished on bottom over baited holes. Limits of frying size channels are plentiful.

Cedar Creek
Cedar Creek is about normal level and fairly clear. Surface temp is in the mid- 80s.
Bass fishing has been fair to three pounds on spinnerbaits, shad pattern crankbaits and Texas rig plastics worked on main lake points with brush, and boat docks near deep water. A few fish hitting topwaters in shallow water; the surface bite has been best early and late.
